HUMAN ASYMMETRY
When I was younger, I didn’t realize people do not have symmetrical faces. If both sides look almost the same, it means they are the same, right? I couldn’t be more wrong.
Every body has small differences on their face. With this project I wanted to deepen those asymmetries on a simplified face to try and see if being symmetrical is better.
Playing with the planes of the face, for the first face, I took out clay from it rather than adding to it. The nose is not really visible, and the eyes on one side are intruding and on the other side extruding.
The second face has a more defined nose. Here I added more clay to highlight the cheekbones. While I was working I made a mistake at the back and cut too much clay. In the end I liked the way it was sitting on its back and kept it that way.
The last one I nicknamed ‘the child’ due to its small size. Although it has no resemblance to a face, it remains in a continuous waiting period of development, waiting for the asymmetries to appear.
